Creating A Marriage Bucket List

4:00 AM

Marriage is sacred. It's beautiful. It's hard. It's amazing. On May 23, 2015 I pulled on my fairytale dress, had my favorite girls by my side and walked down the aisle to marry the love of my life. Drew and I had quite the exciting first year of marriage and it's something I would do all over again with him. Marriage however isn't sunshine and rainbows all the time, it's hard work and you have to try. I'm so grateful to have such a wonderful husband who I have a strong marriage with. Each week I want to document a part of our marriage in a series I'm calling I do, I do too.

I'm sure you've seen on Pinterest all the cutesy date night/bucket list ideas. I don't know about you but majority of that stuff is just like I said, cutesy. Don't get me wrong I love a good romantic gesture but I've also realized I love it even more when he does the laundry or knows the answer to whether or not the dishwasher is clean.  Drew and I actually enjoy making bucket lists and planning things. So we sat down and came up with a bucket list that we feel reflects our relationship but gives us new things to try to accomplish together as husband and wife within our first 5 years of marriage.

1. Start a tradition
2. Find solid double date partners
3. Host a dinner party
4. Volunteer for the day together
5. Take a road trip
6. Buy a home
7. Go technology free for an entire weekend
8. Start contributing to our retirement fund
9. Host both of our families for the holiday's
10. Complete a 1000 piece puzzle
11. Surprise each other with a weekend getaway
12. Go out of the country
13. Release control of the television remote for the night
14. Play hookie from work together
15. Pay off debt
16. Laugh every single day together
17. Meal prep the entire month
18. Attend a charity event you're both passionate about
19. Try something new to the both of you
20. Have a true date night at least once a month

With one 1 year down and a lifetime to go, we're excited to create goals that will turn into memories together. We're happy with what we've compiled already but we're even more ready to cross things off that list and add more to it!What are you planning to accomplish in the next 5 years in your relationship? Do you and your significant other have goals or a bucket list you are working on together?

  1. I love this list! Like you said, it isn't cutesy, and reflects a lot of really great goals that will strengthen your marriage and have a lasting impact. I'm working on establishing true date nights this year too! Cheers, Laura @ kindlykentucky.com
