Dating Your Spouse

5:03 AM

We all remember the excitement when we started dating our spouse. Every date was something new an exciting because the relationship was new an exciting. However after a few years (8.5 in my case) things can become routine and you need to spice it up a bit.

When Drew and I moved to Louisiana, Valentines Day was right around the corner. At the time I hadn't started working yet and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a gift, so I decided to get creative. It was the beginning of a new year, in a brand new state so why not try something well, new!

After taking to Pinterest I came up with the idea to make date night cards. There would be two cards for each month and Drew would be able to draw for a date night in and a date night out

I got lucky when it came to figuring out date night out ideas. We just moved to a new city so the opportunities were/are endless.

Some of our date night out so far:

Hiking in Tunica Hills
Arcade games at Quarters
Brewery tour at Abita Brewery
Try a new restaurant
Cooking class (Drew has drawn this but we are waiting for the holiday's to take the class)

It's been great getting out and exploring our new city! If you aren't living in a new city sit down and think about if there is anything new you want to try, are there some places you've gone on dates before and loved but it's been ages since you've returned? Date night out doesn't have to be intricate and complex, it can be something as simple as taking a walk around a park or going for ice cream. It's good to get out of the comfort of your home every once in awhile as long as your together, enjoying each other's company and having fun it doesn't matter what you do.

After I just said that it's nice to get out of the comfort of your home, it' also nice to just stay in. I don't know about you and your spouse but Drew and I are guilty of falling into the same routine when at home. Sitting on the couch and watching TV, we're notorious for it and don't get me wrong sometimes that's my favorite thing to do but it's nice to enjoy your home together.

Some of our date night in so far:

At home concert
Cook dinner together
Mario Kart race off
Spa night
Nerf gun wars

Out of all of the dates we've had together we always make it a point to go technology free, be engaged with one another and just have fun.

Evening walk turned impromptu movie date! If you haven't seen Bad Moms GO SEE IT, it's husband approved!

What do you and your spouse do to keep date night fun?

  2. I love this so much! My hubs and I made a resolution to go on at least one date night per month this year and so far we're keeping up with it... I think we only missed one, but we're going to try to make up for it this month. It's so important to keep that connection strong!
